- Aaone Takai and Niupalavu Takai must pay Barfoot & Thompson Limited as agent for JC & AC Investments Limited $1,895.28 immediately, calculated as shown in table below
Reasons
- The hearing proceeded as a teleconference.
- Prayrna Dewan attended for the landlord. Neither tenant answered their phone and the hearing proceeded in the tenants’ absence.
- The landlord originally applied for rent and water arrears, and reimbursement of the filing fee.
- Today, Ms Dewan explained that the tenants recently advised her they could no longer afford the rent. The tenants moved out of the premises with the landlord’s agreement on 9 March 2024. The landlord therefore seeks rent and water arrears to the end of the tenancy and payment over of the bond. Ms Dewan said the tenants have signed a bond form surrendering the bond to the landlord in part payment of the arrears.
- Ms Dewan confirms the tenants returned the premises in an undamaged and clean and tidy condition.
How much is owed for rent and water rates?
- The tenancy ended on 9 March 2024. The landlord provided rent records and water rates invoices which prove the amount owing at the end of the tenancy.

- Because the landlord has wholly succeeded in their application, the tenants must reimburse the filing fee.
- The bond is to be paid out to the landlord.
