The applicant landlord attended the hearing which took place by teleconference. The tenant was called on the number provided, and the calls went to answerphone. The landlord advised that they had also tried to contact the tenant recently and there was no response. The tenant attended the previous hearing and has been sent notice of today’s hearing. The hearing proceeded today.
Also in attendance was a tenancy adviser who advised that her role is to support tenants to help sustain their tenancy.
The landlord has applied for termination of the tenancy, rent arrears and refund of the bond.
This matter was adjourned on 14 November 2023 and 6 December 2023 to give the tenant an opportunity to make arrangements to repay the rent arrears.
On 6 December 2023 after discussion with the tenant the Tribunal made directions for interim payments to be made pending this hearing.
The landlord has provided a rent summary today and advised that the tenant did not comply with the directions made on 6 December 2023 and the rent arrears have increased.
